B-Tech classes in Nawshera university to from spring 2016

Peshawar: The Bachelor of Technology (B-Tech) classes in the University of Technology Nowshera will commence from the upcoming spring 2016 as all necessary arrangements are being finalized in this regard.

This was told during a briefing given to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister for Social Welfare and Special Education Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao on the state of technical education in the province here on Saturday.

The briefing besides others was also attended by the Special Assistant to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Technical Education ArshadUmarzai, Secretary Industries DrAftab Akbar Durrani, Vice Chairman KP Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority NomanWazir, Vice Chancellor University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar Syed ImtiazHussainGillani and Managing Director KP-TEVTA TahirOrakzai.

The Senior Minister was informed that round about 3 thousand students could acquire technical education in the university wherein 70 % seats would be reserved for the students hailing from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA while the rest would be decided on merit.

He was further informed that we were lagging behind than the developed countries in the field of technical education because the trend of getting technical education among our students is merely 18% as compared to 67% in the technically advanced countries. To keep pace with the developed countries, we would have to promote technical education and produce skilled workforce, he was informed further.

Speaking on the occasion, Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao said skilled manpower is the precious asset of any country and present coalition government being fully aware of the importance of technical education is focusing special attention on the promotion of this vital sector to curtail the growing problem of unemployment as well as achieve the goal of socio-economic development in the province.
