B.tech engineering students demand removal of project director of proposed technical universityMarch 10, 2015
Peshawar: Students of B.Tech Engineering of various educational institutions demanded of the government to replace the incumbent project director of the proposed technical university with a dedicated and non-controversial person on this important position.
The demand was made by Chief Organizer of B.Tech Engineers Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Irfan Ali Khan, along with B.tech engineering students, while addressing at news conference at press club here on Wednesday. He said the incumbent project director of the proposed technical University, and vice chancellor of UET Peshawar, Engineer Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gilani, had always shown opposition against students of technology. He said the proposed technical university has planned to establish for technology students. He, however, said a controversial person appointed as project director of the university.
The association chief organizer said the university project director Engr Imtiaz Gilani had also opposed admission of B.Tech engineering students into MS program. They (students), didn’t allow to take admission in MS program of any university in the province, he regretted.
Similarly, he said the Mr Imtiaz Gilani, the then acting chairman of Higher Education Commission had withdrawn B.tech equivalency with BSc engineering. Now, he said the Bsc technology program would be introduced in new proposed technical university, which was attempt to completely end the B.tech engineering program. He termed the step would make future of thousands of B.tech engineering students on stake.
The association chief organizer urged the Governor and Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, remove the incumbent project director of the proposed technical university within a week, otherwise the B.tech engineering students would compel to agitation campaign and besiege the provincial assembly.
