KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday issued fresh notice to complainant, alleged gangster Arshad Pappu’s widow, to respond on bail application of Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) MNA Shahjahan Baloch, one of the accused in Pappu murder case.

A division bench headed by Justice Shafi Siddiqui was hearing an application filed by PPP MNA through which he assailed the order of Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) that dismissed his bail application. The applicant through his counsel pleaded not guilty and requested the court to release him on bail.

During hearing on Thursday, the bench observed that notice was issued to complainant during previous hearing but record showed she was not served with notice. Therefore, the bench repeated notice to complainant through investigation officer of the case for September 29.

The PPP lawmaker along with several other accused is facing charges of kidnapping and killing notorious gangster Pappu, his brother Yasir Arafat and friend Shera Pathan on March 16 last year in the Lyari area. On October 6, the Anti-Terrorism Court had dismissed the bail application filed by Shahjehan, who later challenged the bail rejection in the High Court.
