LAHORE: Audit officers of the Inland Revenue are not being promoted despite clear instructions of the High Court and the FBR was using delaying tactics to give their due right to these officers.
The Audit Officers Association has sought the help of the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar for the promotion of the officers who are in limbo for the last thirteen years.
The Association said that Sindh High Court in 2007 ordered the FBR to promote these officers in the next grade besides giving them matching authority but a lobby of high FBR officers was reluctant to implement the court orders and using delaying tactics.
The Association further said that in the Finance Bill 2012-13, through an amendment in the section 210 of the Income Tax Ordinance, the powers of grade 17 Inland Revenue Officers were withdrawn while powers of 16 grade officers were not withdrawn. Resultantly, Audit Officers were given under the Inland Officers.
They said that through a well thought conspiracy, 260 Audit Officers have been pushed to the wall as they would be facing financial and promotional loss.
Office-bearers of the Audit Officers Association have appealed to the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar to take notice of the situation and pass orders to secure the rights of Audit Officers under the verdict of High Court.
