Islamabad: Khalid Chaudhry, Central Information Secretary, Traders Action Committee, Islamabad and former Senior Vice President of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry has called upon the CDA to address issues of local markets on urgent basis to facilitate the smooth growth of business activities. He was addressing Farooqia Market traders after inaugurating a dry cleaner shop.

He said CDA was responsible for developing better infrastructure in local markets, but was not discharging its responsibilities up to the required standards due to which the markets were facing many problems and presenting a dilapidated look.

He called upon the Chairman CDA Maroof Afzal and Amer Ali Ahmed Member Administration to constitute a task force to address the issue of markets on priority.

He said gutters in Farooqia Market were overflowing since long while the condition of sanitation was totally unsatisfactory and 80 percent street lights were not working despite the fact that the IESCO was receiving regular payment of street lights bills from CDA. He said many times complaints were registered with CDA about these issues but no measures were taken so far to address issues.

Khalid Chaudhry said local traders always cooperated with CDA, but deputationist in the civic body had other preferences instead of resolving traders’ problems and had no loyalty with the department.

He stressed upon the CDA officers to mend their behaviour towards the traders and take measures to resolve their problems, otherwise, traders would launch a strong protest movement for protection of their rights.
