CDA assures to resolve issues of industrial and commercial areas on priorityNovember 18, 2014
Islamabad: Businessmen are making important contribution to the economic development of the country and CDA would take all possible measures to address issues of industrial areas as well as markets to facilitate better growth of business activities, observed Shahid Sohail, Member Engineering, Capital Development Authority during his visit to Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
Mr. Asad Kyani D.G Works, Mr. Sohail Anjum D.G E&M, Mr. Naseem Zafar Dy. D.G Works, Mr. Shahid Mehmood, Mr. Khalid Asif and Fateh Muhammad Maku Directors Works and Mr. Asif Ja Director E&M were also present at the occasion.
He said contract for dualization of Islamabad Dry Port road was in litigation causing delay in its expansion and assured that soon the litigation would end and CDA would start dualizing the said road.
He said the roads and footpaths of I-9 and I-10 industrial areas would be rehabilitated along with lane marking of roads. He said the issue of funds for streetlights have been resolved and CDA would soon undertake work for providing streetlights in industrial, commercial and residential areas.
He said the matter of establishing bridge to connect I-8 and I-9 sectors at 9th Avenue with dry port road for facilitation of people would be considered and development of green areas would be taken up with Environment Wing of CDA.
He said reflectors would be arranged at road crossings in industrial areas and added that market unions should cooperate with CDA for removing encroachments from commercial areas.
Speaking at the occasion, M. Shakeel Munir, Acting President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry highlighted the issues requiring the urgent attention of CDA.
He said due to broken roads & footpaths and non-availability of streetlights in industrial areas, industrialists were facing difficulties in moving goods to/from industries and urged that CDA should pay immediate attention to address these issues by ensuring proper carpeting, patchwork and repair of roads & footpaths.
He said unnecessary speed breakers and emergency barriers at major roads were also creating problems and CDA should take up these issues with relevant authorities for redress.
He also highlighted many issues of G-9 Markaz including insufficient streetlights, sewerage problems, repair of damaged roads, plantations in markets and called for early resolution of the same.
Issues of Sabzi Mandi, F-10 Markaz and many other commercial areas were also highlighted and Member Engineering, CDA was asked to ensure their solution on priority to facilitate the business community. Both sides reiterated to develop close cooperation for better development of the city and improving infrastructure for trade and industry.
