Chevron-SOS cricket tournament begins in Pindi from tomorrow

Rawalpindi: A total of 150 SOS Village children from eleven different cities of the country will be seen in action in the Chevron-SOS Cricket Tournament 2015 which gets underway in Rawalpindi from Tuesday (December 22).

As part of its social investment portfolio, Chevron Pakistan Lubricants has recently established a sports-based partnership with SOS Children’s Villages Pakistan, a reputable non-profit institution working for orphaned and abandoned children for the last 35 years in Pakistan.

In order to promote physical activity and healthy competition among schoolchildren, Chevron has teamed up with SOS to organize the Chevron-SOS Cricket Tournament 2015, to be held for five days, from December 22 to 26, 2015 at the Cricket Ground, Ayub Park in Rawalpindi.

Chevron has arranged for eleven SOS Youth Home teams based in 11 different cities of Pakistan -Quetta, Lahore, Muzaffarabad, Karachi, Sargodha, Sialkot, Multan, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Abbottabad and Islamabad, to congregate in Rawalpindi for five days and compete in the exciting event.

The event will be attended by 150 schoolchildren and staff from SOS Children’s Village Rawalpindi, SOS senior regional team and donors, Chevron leadership and employees, and a few other respected members of society.

The tournament will open with a colourful inauguration ceremony on Dec 22, followed by three full days of thrilling matches. On December 25, the visiting teams will have a break and enjoy a fun-filled outing and then gear up for the semi-final and final matches to be held the next day.

The two conclusive matches and the prize distribution ceremony will be held on December 26, 2015. Naeem Ur Rehman, Manager Direct Industrial Sales, Chevron Pakistan Lubricants will be the chief guest for the occasion.
