KARACHI: Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Sindh police on Tuesday claimed to have apprehended four suspects allegedly involved in Karachi airport attack that took place in 8 June 2014.
This was disclosed by AIG CID Saqib Ismael while addressing a press conference at CID Civil Line office here on Tuesday. Saqib claimed that CID police had arrested four accomplices of those terrorists who had attacked the Jinnah International Airport, besides recovering weapons from their possession.
He said that the arrested accused had been identified as Sarmad Siddiqui, Nadeem, Asif Zaheer and Master Essa, who not only facilitated attackers but also provided them weapons for the attack.
He also disclosed that banned Al-Qaida and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) had a major role in the attack and they had link to Balochistan.
He said that a terrorists training centre had been established at Afghan border, where training was being imparted in an organized method while financial benefits were also being taken from Karachi.
CID police official disclosed that it had been known about network of Al-Qaeda that fake and original licenses of weapons, specially of 9mm pistols, were being made in interior Sindh for supplying weapons to terrorists.
Saqib said: “Accomplices of the terrorists have also confessed to support families of those terrorists who were killed in airport attack.”
He further claimed: “The accomplices of the terrorists had also been arrested in different cases of terrorism, who had also confessed to the killing Azhar Abbas in Ferozabad and cable operator Naeem.”
