KARACHI: Administrator Karachi Rauf Akhter Farooqui said the municipal administration in coordination with air force authorities would take all out effort to improve sanitation condition especially prevent birds presence around the air bases to secure air traffic.

“Particularly on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha necessary measures will be taken for lifting and burial of offal of sacrificial animals under the scientific method so that air traffic should not have to face any trouble due to the flying birds,” he said this while speaking at a meeting of the committee for the eradication of flying birds in Masroor Airbase on Monday.

Senior PAF officials, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) officers, district municipal corporations, Karachi police and district administration were also present on the occasion.

The administrator said all the stakeholders had to solve the issue with joint efforts. The air bases were encircled by slum areas where it was hard to provide the civic services. Due to the shortage of resources only 40 percent out of total 16 thousand tons of garbage was lifted by the municipal corporations in the city.

He said a monthly cleanliness drive was being launched in the province from Monday on the directive of Provincial Minister for Local Government Sharjeel Inam Memon during which all the garbage and waste will be removed and disposed off to improve the sanitation condition.
