Closure of UNHCR Voluntary Repatriation Centres during Eid

Islamabad: All registered Afghan refugees, holding Proof of Registration (PoR) or UNHCR-issued refugee identity cards, who are planning to return to Afghanistan from Pakistan under the UNHCR facilitated voluntary return programme are hereby informed, that the UNHCR Voluntary Repatriation Centres (VRCs) in Pakistan will be closed from 03 October to 07 October, 2014 on account of Eid-ul-Adha holidays.

The Chamkani VRC in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Baleli VRC in Quetta, Balochistan will reopen and resume their routine activities on Wednesday, 08 October 2014.

Similarly, the Encashment Centres in Afghanistan will remain closed from 04 to 07 October and resume operations on 08 October, 2014.

As per usual practice, Afghan refugees in Pakistan who wish to proceed through the VRCs in Pakistan when the facilitated return resumes on 08 October 2014, are encouraged to contact the UNHCR helpline, which is operational between 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, in order to be scheduled before approaching the voluntary repatriation centres.
