CM appreciates the efforts for promoting the common traditions of KP and ScotlandOctober 12, 2015
Peshawar: The Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has appreciated the efforts for promoting the common traditions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and Scotland and establishing investment and trade ties between the two federating units of Pakistan and the United Kingdom. He also accepted the offer for enhancing mutual cooperation between the two and assured full cooperation in this connection.
The offer was made by Ms Shazia Khawar, Regional Director for Society for South Asia British Council, who called on the Chief Minister at the CM Secretariat today. Member of the Provincial Assembly, Aneesa Zeb Tahirkheli was also present at the meeting and briefed the Chief Minister about prospects of KP-Scotland friendship and mutual cooperation particularly in Energy, Higher Education, Health and Solid Waste Management sectors.
She also suggested that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly and the Scotland’s legislative institution could be declared as sister parliaments due to similarity in certain traditions and norms.
The Chief Minister said that proposed cooperation and collaboration between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and Scotland would certainly enable the both the governments to benefit from expertise of each other in certain development sectors.
He also agreed upon the idea of exchange of parliamentary delegations and directed the concerned departments of the provincial government to hold preparatory meetings for exploring prospects and opportunities for bilateral cooperation in the areas of interests.
