CM approves the building design of Nowshera Medical College

Peshawar: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has approved the building design of Nowshera Medical College and directed the relevant authorities to set up an autonomous board to run the new teaching hospital of Nowshera from its very beginning.

He also directed the health department to ensure 100% provision of facilities and staff before commissioning the hospital and warned that no excuse would be accepted if any facility was found missing after opening of the hospital.

He was chairing a meeting regarding affairs of Nowshera Medical College and Teaching Hospital, held at the CM House on Wednesday. The provincial secretaries of Finance, Health and Communication and Works departments, Special Secretary to the Chief Minister, Principal of Nowshera Medical College, the Consultant of the project and other officers attended the meeting.

The participants were told that Nowshera Teaching Hospital was near to completion and it would be inaugurated within next two months while arrangements were being made to start first academic session of Nowshera Medical College by November next.

The Chief Minister directed that functioning of the hospital must not be started until 100 percent availability of all required staff and necessary facilities.

He also ordered that instead of the government functionaries the new hospital be made functional under such independent management board that could run the hospital in accordance with the international standards and it should not accept any political interference in the affairs of the hospital, he added.

Mr. Khattak also directed the C&W department to complete the construction of the building of Nowshera Medical College within one year and strictly follow the provincial government’s policy in this respect.

He also asked the department to submit PC-1 of the project within one week and ensure provision of the solar system for emergency departments of the hospital and College.
