QUETTA: Balochistan chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch has said that necessary arrangements have been made in coastal area of the province in view of tropical storm in the Arabia Sea.
Addressing a Press conference along with Provincial minister for Home and PDMA and Adviser Obedullah Babat at Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Office here Wednesday he said we have imposed emergency in areas where this storm can cause damages. Steps have also been taken to keep people away from this and they have been shifted from such areas.
Dr Malik Baloch said we were monitoring tropical storm in Arabian Sea. It was about 650 Km from Gwadar. We have issued directives for steps to meet dangers of this storm. He said stopping natural calamity is not under control of any one. However government was doing its best that there are minimum losses. He aid fishermen have been asked not to go to sea so long this storm ends.
Chief Minister said there is serious danger of drought in Balochistan due to no rain in different districts of the province. Government has earmarked rupees one billion for meeting this. He said a change was taking place in the world. Sometime there are more rains in monsoon and sometime there are small rains. It was causing problems. He said Zhob, Noshki, Dera Bugti are such areas where there has been no rain.
He said we do not need any assistance because Balochistan has its own resources. Still we needed federal government would be approached.
He said we need heavy funds for building dams. If a dam is built in Quetta it would cost Rupees 14 to 15 billion. We are out best to work for the welfare of people.
Referring to law and order situation he said we have decided to keep Muharramul peaceful. We have tightened security in this regard. A committee headed by Home Minister has been constituted which was monitoring all matters about law and order. He said Government has decided to install 3200 cameras and giving 100 motorcycles to policemen.
He said it is fact we could not fulfill promises we made with the people. When we assumed power Quetta was giving a look of ruined city. We have now improved Quetta to a great extent. He aid Provincial minister Sardar Mustafa Tareen has been assigned task to improve situation in Quetta city. He said underground water level was also depleting in Khuzdar, Panjgur, Turbat and other parts and we have to pay immediate attention towards this end.
He said if problem of water was not resolved on permanent basis it would have very serious repercussions.
He said what happened in the previous regime and who committed corruption he has no knowledge about it. He was responsible for his government. He said he claimed no corruption as made in his government so far. NAB is an autonomous institution. If it was inquiring about three ministers of coalition government let it do. It is our endeavour to eliminate corruption but we could not end this menace. If NAB has any proof against him Chief Minister said it should carry out investigation against him. We have not stopped any one from it.
Home Minister Sarfraz Bugti said we are facing problems such as poverty and drought in the province. We have evolved a programme with health department which would resolve problems of the people to a great extent.
