QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri has asked Media to play its role for creating awareness among the masses for improvement of law and order and establishing a peaceful Balochistan and guide the government also. No doubt improving law and order is responsibility fo the government yet it is possible only when media and all segments of society come forward and play their role.
He said we must remember that if we are untied then any one cannot overcome us either by terrorism or any other case. We are one and would remain so. No effort would be spared for destroying peace of the province.
This he said while speaking on a luncheon hosted in his honour by Balochistan Newspapers Editors Council here Wednesday.
Chief Secretary Saifullah Chatha, Senator Agha Shabaz Durrani and Balochistan Government Spokesman Anwarul Haq Kakar were also present.
He said Gwadar is strong part of Balochistan and would remain forever. For removing apprehensions of local people to become minority and do away with negative propaganda in this regard legislation was being made Rights of local people of Gwadar would be ensured at every cost. Under this those coming from outside would neither have neither right to vote nor they mention Gwadar as permanent address in their national identity cards.
Referring to law and order Chief Minister said that without improving it there is no concept of development. Government was not only aware of its responsibility in this regard but effective action was being taken against terrorists for attacking insecurity forces and killing innocent people. Government’s tolerance in this regard is zero and there is no scope that handful of elements playing in the hands of others kill innocent people. He said no ideology is imposed at gun point in the world nor we would allow this to happen here. Everyone had constitutional freedom to lead a life at his own.
Chief Minister said being son of Sardar Doda Khan Zehri he cannot allow anyone to shed blood of any other. Being a Nawab it is his responsibility and duty to secure people. He said our forefathers and elders protected minorities and suppressed segment by sword for centuries.
He said besides peace attention was also being paid on development process particularly work has begun for betterment of Quetta city and providing citizens with modern facilities. Implementation of work on Mangi Dam project would be undertaken soon. Kuchlak to Spezand mass Transit Train system project would be given practical shape. More flyovers and underpasses would be built in different parts of city.
A park was being established at 62 acre land of Radio Transmitter situated along Sariab road.
He regretted that we did not do anything for the development of the province and levelled charges against others. If we do not want to build our home at ourselves and level charges on neither neighbours it would not be correct nor would it improve situation.
Chief Secretary while answering some question on the directives of Chief Minister told that Federal and provincial governments were taking measures and making comprehensive planning to fully secure interests of Gwadar detailed meeting between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri has been held in which important decisions have been taken. Prime minister has also directed for legislation for security f rights of local people of Gwadar on the [pattern of Hong Kong, Singapore and Dubai models. He said for preparing comprehensive master plan for making Gwadar a modern City has been assigned to Chinese Company. It would prepare master plan within one year and Federal government has released Rupees 450 million for this.
He said Prime Minister wants to make Gwadar Tax Free zone where only 1 to 2 percent duty would be imposed. Of this 70 percent would go to Gwadar, 20 percent go Balochistan and 10 percent to Federation.
He said at the high level meeting held at PM house Monday East Bay Expressway, Declaring Gwadar free trade zone, establishing vocational training centre and national international airport for Gwadar has been approved. Foundation stone of these projects would soon be laid by Prime Minister, Chief of army Staff, Balochistan chief Minister and Chinese leadership.
Problems confronting Gwadar as water, electricity and security would be resolved on priority basis.
Prime Minister has also directed for immediate start of 300 megawatt thermal power plant in Gwadar which would meet electricity requirement for industries to be setup in the area.
