CM inaugurates ornamental plantation schemeSeptember 18, 2014
Peshawar: KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak Friday in a simple but impressive ceremony at Peshawar-Motorway Interchange inaugurated the plantation of ornamental plants on all highways of the provincial metropolis.
Under the project the Department of Environment will plant about 2500 ornamental and decorative plants from Motorway Interchange to Ring Road and onward the whole Ring Road and Rehman Baba Square to Nowshera on G.T. Road.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and Advisor to CM on Environment Ishtiaq Urmar planted saplings to launch the scheme formally. Senior Minister for Local Governments Inayatullah, Provincial Minister for Minerals Ziaullah Afridi, Provincial Minister for Public Health Shah Farman, Samiullah Alizai and other members of provincial assembly and higher authorities of the department of environment were also present.
The Chief Minister directed the high authorities to recognize their responsibilities and ensure their duties as after Allah Almighty we are also answerable to the people.
He said that Peshawar is the identity of the people of the whole province therefore its beautification and restoration of its past glory should be included in our top priorities. He directed all provincial departments for initiating sustainable efforts for the beautification and development of Peshawar.
He said that re-turning Peshawar into the city of gardens, flowers and parks may take time. However, we will have to make hectic efforts for the achievement of this milestone. He said that in past no attention was paid in this direction rather the city was turned into massive traffic, dirt and degraded it environmentally.
Pervez Khattak said that since last one year his govt was making concentrated efforts for the development and beautification of the city under a proper master plan and they are successfully progressing in this regard.
He said that the planning and generating of resources for billions of rupees Peshawar Mass Transit Plan is sincerely continued. In this regard, he also thanked the full cooperation of the members of provincial assembly from the provincial metropolis.
The chief minister further directed that besides the provincial metropolis, the process of progress, development and beautification should reflect in the whole province. He said that his govt has already declared the on-going financial year as year of accelerated development and for this purpose had allocated hefty funds.
He said that timely and quality completion of development schemes, the guaranteeing of transparent and judicious utilization of the allocated funds are included in the duties of the authorities while the concerned members of the provincial assembly and locals should fulfill the responsibility of monitoring the projects to the bring the province closer to the destination of progress and prosperity.
