CM: (Non-functional govt made functional in Balochistan: Dr Abdul Malik)

ISLAMABAD: Chief Minister Balochistan Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch has said that the National Party (NP) took over the government in Balochistan in very difficult situation when kidnaping for ransom was a lucrative business.

Addressing the Provincial Convention of the National Party in Lahore on Sunday, he said that target killings and suicide attacks have decreased in the province. He said peace and tranquility have been restored and strict action has been taken against organization have been wiped out from the soil of Balochistan.

He said that the Army has imparted training to the police of the province and all the postings and transfers of the Balochistan police are made on merit. He said the organizations of security forces have been restructured for better performance. The Chief Minister said that that the Balochistan government has taken solid measures for the promotion of education in the province.

He said there were many no go areas even in Quetta where no one would dare to go after sunset while target killing and suicide bombing was order of the day but now situation has changed.

We transformed a non-functional government to a fully functional which is benefitting masses, he said. He said that efforts of the government have infused confidence in doctors and teachers who are now performing their duties, three lakh children of different far flung villages are going to school while 3.5 million people have been vaccinated for measles.

He said that intensity of the issue of missing people has dropped and that peace is linked with cordial relations with neighbouring countries. He said PML-N has given us assurances on Pak-China corridor but we still have reservations.

Speaking on the occasion, President NP Mir Hasil Khan Bizenjo said that Pakistan envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam can provide peace and prosperity as religious terrorism will lead us nowhere.
