CM urges NHA to repair bypass at Thehri

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has directed Works & Services Department to take up the issue of unrepaired portion of National Highway bypass near Therhi, Khairpur with National Highway Authority to get it repaired because road accidents have become order of the day there.

He observed that on the bypass, portion of the road was in dilapidated condition as heavy traffic had developed craters, therefore most of the vehicles flipped there and then turn turtle.

The chief minister in his directives to Works & Services Department further said that only in the month of November four road accidents had taken place there which claimed about 60 lives and injured scores of people.

Shah also said that National Highway needed to repair some other damaged portions. The chief minister has also taken serious notice of multi-party conference organised by Sukkur Small Traders Association and directed Local Government Department to report him why the sewerage system had failed in Sukkur.

Shah directed the secretary Local Government to give him a detailed report about civic conditions in Sukkur. Why gutters are overflowing and gushing sewer water accumulates in the streets.

He directed him to give him report of the damaged city roads ?in Sukkur and why they had not been repaired.

The chief minister further said he would personally visit Sukkur to see its plight. He also directed the Commissioner Sukkur to report him about the performance of local bodies and other civic agencies.
