Commissioner for restoring city’s neglected parks

KARACHI: Karachi Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has said that efforts are underway to establish more parks in Karachi, besides restoring those parks which were neglected in the past.

This he said while addressing an inaugural ceremony of a park established in collaboration with Karachi Youth Initiative (KYI). He said that a park along Tipu Sultan Road in District East had recently been restored with cooperation of local community, which was a good omen.

Other districts’ corporations have also been advised to focus on restoring parks in the city. However, civil society support is mandatory for this cause. We will have better environment if we build parks in the city, the commissioner said.

He said children, youngsters, women, and families will have better recreation if we will have more parks. It will helpful for youngsters to eliminate negative thinking and maintain harmony in the city, Siddiqui said.

Park established in Sultanabad is an example of civil society’s social responsibilities. Other non-governmental agencies and organizations should also help the government and city administration for ensuring better environment and peace in Karachi. The commissioner said that District South will fulfil its responsibilities of building beautiful parks.
