Commissioner orders stern crackdown on profiteering

KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui on Friday directed Commissioner Task Force to carry out stern crackdown to establish government writ and ensure selling of quality milk at government fixed prices. He said while addressing a meeting regarding price control at his office. Additional Commissioner Karachi II Haji Ahmed, Director Local Government Ms Rubina Asif and Assistant Commissioner General Shahzaib Sheikh were also present on the occasion.

Siddiqui said all the deputy commissioners of the city should expedite ongoing operation against poor quality and unhygienic commodities and profiteering, while Bureau of Supply and Prices should keep vigilance on saving markets.

He further directed Bureau of Supply to activate its inspectors and teams for price and quality checking besides ensuring display of price lists on prominent places in saving markets stalls.

The commissioner also directed the organizers of saving markets to ensure selling commodities at reasonable prices so as to provide relief to ordinary men and consumers, otherwise they would have to face strict legal action.
