KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui on Friday said hindrances being faced by builders in completion of two Malir flyovers had been removed and those would be completed within stipulated time.
Talking to PPI at his office, the commissioner Karachi said that the due dates for construction of Malir Halt and Malir 15 flyovers were September and December 2014 respectively and the builders had assured them of completing those within stipulated time.
He said that a meeting was held at his office today where issues causing delay in construction of the flyover were discussed.
He said that K-Electric had assured the meeting that its infrastructure in the line of flyovers including PMT and live wires were removed while other material would be shifted by 12 June 2014.
Project Director Malir halt assured that diversion for the project was completed and they were comfortable with the contractors.
He said that a committee comprising Assistant Commissioner Model Colony Shaikh Salahuddin and other stakeholders has been formed to ensure that Sunday bazaar in the vicinity of flyover project did not create problems.
He said that Director Anti-Encroachment KMC was also directed to remove any encroachments coming in the alignment of the project.
“Project Director Malir 15 has assured that diversions at Malir 15 will be completed by 19 June,” he said adding that sewerage work at the site would be completed before schedule. He said that the contractor of Malir-15 was also directed to complete Azeempura ramp on time.
