Compensation be given for removing encroachment: commissioner

KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui said compensation plan should be made for the affectees before removing encroachment from storm-water drains for widening and reforming the drains.

He said that storm-water drains should be widened to save city from inundating, destruction and citizens from difficulties in case of unusual and torrential rain.

The commissioner said that such a plan should be made that the affectees should themselves leave the encroached area without any resistance in the best interest of citizens. The religious, political and social leaders should be taken into confidence before the operation.

He said while presiding during Deputy Commissioners Conference at his office. Deputy Commissioner East Samiuddin Siddiqui, Deputy Commissioner South Mustafa Jamal Qazi, Deputy Commissioner Central Dr Syed Saifur Rehman, Deputy Commissioner West Muhammad Ali Shah, Deputy Commissioner Korangi Zubair Ahmed Channa, Deputy Commissioner Malir Qazi Jan Muhammad, Additional Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Aslam Khoso, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Zulfiqar Ahmed Abbasi and Assistant Commissioner General Shahzaib Sheikh were also present on the occasion.

The commissioner said that with the cooperation of people’s representatives and organizations the issues of water, electricity, sewerage, cleanliness, traffic issues and municipal issues should be resolved. The health centers, schools and welfare organizations should be made better.

He said that the conflicts among institutions whether private of government should be resolved. The law and order situation should be improved. The security of the installations of national importance should be boosted.

Siddiqui said that the administration of Karachi should be made role model in the country. Steps should be taken to implement government policies. The education reform program should be paid due attention. Illegal billboards should be removed and the implementation on the instructions of chief minister Sindh should be ensured.

He said that the orders of closure of marriage halls at 12:00am should be enforced. Each deputy commissioner provided details about their district during the conference and ensured every possible action to implement government policies.
