ISLAMABAD: The first round of the British High Commissions’ (BHC) Pakistan–wide Great Debate competition was held here at National University of Science and Technology (NUST).
Further rounds of the competition will take place in 11 other key cities across Pakistan where university students will debate on topics concerning the theme of the competition: Pakistan 2047, says a press statement issued here on Wednesday.
Future winners will then join yesterdays champion Zara Shafique from Institute of Space and Technology, in the grand final where the winner of the Great Debate competition will be announced, and will be awarded with the British High Commission Scholarship.
Students from other cities can visit and register on the website where they will see a list of the 11 other host cities: www.greatdebate.com.pk. On winning the Islamabad leg of the GREAT Debate competition, Zara Shafique said, “It was a humbling experience for me. Everyone performed really well and I got a chance to learn a lot from other talented students.
It was very competitive yet at the same time quite an amazing day. I would like to thank the British High Commission for organising this remarkable opportunity and to NUST for conducting it at their prestigious university”.
