Contingency security plan sought for LB polls in HyderabadSeptember 7, 2015
HYDERABAD: The Provincial Election Commission in order to ensure free, fair and transparent local bodies elections 2015 in peaceful environment has constituted four-member committee comprising District Returning Officer, Deputy Commissioner, SSP and District Election Commissioner (DEC) and has given mandate to maintain the law & order situation and to prepare contingency plan for provision of security at polling stations on the day of poll.
This was informed by Regional Election Commissioner (REC)/District Returning Officer Hyderabad Aijaz Anwar Chohan in a meeting held in his office today to review the arrangements of forthcoming local bodies elections. The Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Motasim Abbasi, ADC-I, ADC-II, ASP, Director Local Government, DHO and Returning Officers attended the meeting.
Presiding over the meeting, the REC Hyderabad informed that to ensure the devolution of power and real democracy, November 19, 2015 has been declared as polling day for local bodies elections 2015 in 2nd phase and added that nomination papers could be get from September 9 and would be received from contesting candidates between September 13 to September 17.
Chohan asked the relevant officers to make foolproof security arrangements, transportation of polling staff, uninterrupted supply of electricity, drinking water, lavatory and other necessary facilities at polling stations. He also informed that 27 AROs will assigned the duties in the election in 96 Union Committees and 20 Union Councils of Hyderabad district. He asked all the concerned officers to remain in close contact with the DEC. The meeting was informed that every effort will be adopted for holding free, fair and transparent elections in later and spirit and cooperation could be sought from other departments, if needed.
