Corruption charges: Accused gets pre-arrest from SHCNovember 8, 2015
KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday granted a pre-arrest bail to one Faheem Ahmed Zia, who is facing allegations of embezzling in compensation amount announced for the affectees of Lyari Expressway, and suspended operation of his non bail-able warrant issued by an accountability court.
Zia is facing allegations of fraudulently transacting compensation amount, issued for the affectees of Lyari Expressway, to his accounts. National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has filed a reference against Zia contending that 249 crossed cheques, issued to Lyari Expressway’s affectees, of Rs 50,000 each had been found to be credited in banks accounts of three persons including him.
Zia on Monday approached the court seeking bail before arrest as NAB has filed a reference against him but according to him he has nothing to do with any corruption or embezzlement.
His counsel filed a bail plea against his possible arrest by NAB which was accepted by SHC against the surety bonds of Rs 700,000. While granting the bail the court directed Zia to cooperate with the investigation authorities and appear before the trial the court.
The court also issued notices to the NAB and others respondents to come up on 23rd November.
