KARACHI: Special Assistant to Chief Minister Sindh for Culture and Tourism, Sharmila Faruqui, has said that the country was not in a position to face the politics of confrontation, therefore, Nawaz Sharif should learn from past mistakes and adopt the policies of former President Asif Ali Zardari who shrewdly took over all the challenges through his reconciliation policies.

“Asif Ali Zardari never derailed the democratic system and successfully completed his tenure for the first time in the Pakistan history. A democratic government delivers the charge to next democratic rule,” she said in a statement issued on Wednesday.

Sharmila said that to rule the country is not a bed of roses, as PPP also faced the huge challenges in its tenure like Sawat Operation, 18 and 19 amendment of constitution, Tahirul Qadri protest and sit-in at Islamabad, corruption charges and much more but Asif Ali Zardari never opted the confrontation tool against democratic powers. “The world hails the political approach of Asif Ali Zardari till today.”

“Nawaz Sharif should not avoid the sacrifices of Pakistan Army and other Armed forces. He should not be egocentric and must think about the long run of Pakistan,” Sharmila concluded.
