ISLAMABAD: Upholding a previous decision of Sindh High Court, the Supreme Court on Wednesday allowed former president Pervez Musharraf to go abroad for treatment.

As per details, the federal government filed a petition in the apex court challenging SHC verdict in Musharraf ECL case. The larger bench of the apex court delivered its brief verdict on Musharraf’s petition regarding removal of his name from exit control list (ECL).

During the hearing of the case, Musharraf’s lawyers informed the court that doctors have suggested his fusion surgery from abroad. In the ruling, the court upheld 2014 decision of a two-judge bench of SHC through which it had directed the federal government to remove Musharraf’s name from ECL.

The bench also rejected federal government’s plea seeking ban on travel of the former military ruler who is facing charges of high treason in Pakistan.
