ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Monday said that it should know by today (Tuesday) when the bill would be passed for the Islamabad Local Government elections.

During the hearing, the court directed the attorney general to present the bill today (Tuesday). Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja said it doesn’t seem that the polls would be held on July 25.

The polls will be held in 79 Union Councils (UC) while there will be 13 seats for each UC. These include one Chairman, one Vice Chairman, six general seats, one youth, one peasant or worker member, two women and one minority. Overall 680,000 registered voters will cast their votes to elect their representatives.
