CPEC: (CPEC’s first phase to be completed by December 2017)

ISLAMABAD: The first phase of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) comprising the energy projects would be completed by December next year.

A report quoting a senior official in the Ministry of Planning and Development and Reforms said the early harvest projects being completed under the CPEC will bring a rapid change in socio-economic scenario of the country.

It said the Chinese companies are working day and night for timely completion of energy generation projects to generate about 10,000MW electricity.

It said about 6,600 MW coal based power plants would be installed at Thar to tap the huge coal reserves of the area and make the area as power capital of the country. Under the CPEC, Western routes are being developed to bring underdeveloped areas of Balochistan at par with the developed areas.
