CPNE grieved at Nizami’s demise

KARACHI: Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) President Mujibur Rehman Shami and Secretary General Dr Jabbar Khattak have expressed their deep sorrow and grief over the demise of founder member CPNE, veteran journalist and Editor-in-Chief of The Nation & Nawa-i-Waqt group Dr Majid Nizami and declared it a great tragedy for journalism in Pakistan which resulted in closer of a very long great chapter of Pakistani journalism.

In a condolence message issued on Monday, CPNE office-bearers said that the excellent services rendered by late Dr Nizami as editor over 52 years would be always remembered. He was out spoken brave, loyal to the country and blind supporter of freedom of the press and no one could pressurize to compromise him on his principals. Late Dr was also elected as President CPNE several times and his services rendered for CPNE will always be remembered always, they said.
