Crackdown on encroachments in Orangi

KARACHI: Scores of cabin shops, kiosks, pushcarts, illegally established petrol pumps and other hurdles were removed from Banaras, Shahra-e-Orangi, Shahra-e-Qaddafi, Orangi No 5 and Orangi No 16-I in an anti-encroachment operation in Orangi Town.

While, Director Orangi Town Project Muhammed Javed has been suspended on complaints of citizens and Director Anti-Encroachment Mazhar Khan has been given show cause notice for not submitting timely comments in court cases and non-cooperation with the department of law, said spokesperson of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation.

Meanwhile, Orangi Town Project has started crackdown against commercial use of residential units. In which, daily raids would be conducted along magistrates and units would be sealed after expiry of notice. Moreover, anti-encroachment operation has been started on war-footing around schools.
