KARACHI: Chief Secretary Sindh, Sajjad Saleem Hotiana, on Thursday directed provincial secretary irrigation & Drainage Authority (SIDA) to ensure water supply to six villages through Khariro Minor of Mirpur Sakro.

The chief secretary passed the directions after meeting with a delegation of affected villages. They complained about water scarcity. The delegation comprised Abdul Rashid Gabol, Abdul Razzaq Jatt, Muhammad Ismael, Karmati Baloch, Muhammad Siddique, Hajji Sahib Khan, Ghulam Qadir Baloch and Babu Khan Jatt.

While talking to chief secretary, the delegation informed him that they had also written a letter to the relevant department eight months ago regarding water scarcity and theft. They further said that the rice cultivation in their areas had been badly affected due to water scarcity.

Hotiana assured the delegation of providing water supply and taking strict action against the people violating the laws and stealing water from RD-52 of Mirpur Sakro minor.

He also asked the department concerned to clean the minor so that supply of water to deprived growers could be ensured. Moreover, Hotiana called a report from secretary SIDA within three days about the issue.
