CS says security being tightened for anti-polio teams

KARACHI: Chief Secretary Sindh Mohammad Siddique Memon on Monday emphasized upon coordinated efforts for safe and sufficient implementation on Polio Eradication Programme and asked Secretary Health to evolve appropriate monitoring system to achieve the target.

While talking to Chairman Technical Advisory Group of Polio Eradication Jean Marc and Provincial Oversight Coordinator Ms Shahnaz Wazir Ali this morning at Chief Secretary’s House in Karachi, Memon noted that specific security arrangements were being taken to protect polio eradication teams throughout the province, while ulema and lady religious scholars have been taken into confidence for the anti-polio campaign.

They also exchanged views about over all progress, including release of funds, while expeditious steps were agreed to his effect.

Secretary Health Saeed A Mangnijo, Country Manager UNICEF Aiden Olcary, Sindh Police Programme Coordinator Dr Usma Chachar, Sr Advisor WHO Sindh Tom Greinn, UNICEF Team Leader for Polio Program for Sindh Ms Huma Arif Khan and Altaf Bason were also present.

The chief secretary lauded the services of Emergency Response Centre Sukkur operating with the UNICEF aid.
