Customs seize smuggled cloth

KARACHI: Customs authorities along with rangers officials conducted a targeted raid at Allah Wali Market and recovered seven to eight trucks loaded with smuggled foreign cloth here on Sunday.

Station House Officer Aram Bagh police Minhajul Hassan told PPI that Customs men accompanied by Rangers officials raided at Allah Wali Market and recovered seven to eight trucks loaded with imported cloth. He said that the shopkeepers claimed that they have purchase slips so that this cloth must be returned to them.

The shopkeepers turned aggressive and pelted officials with stones. Rangers opened aerial firing and baton charged to disperse them. Resultantly three shopkeepers sustained minor injuries. He said that the shopkeepers claim the seized cloth was worth about Rs35 million.
