Dangerous, improper billboards to be removed: commissioner

KARACHI, Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has said that on the directives of chief minister Sindh all billboards in the city should be made in accordance with rules and regulations, while the billboards posing threat to the lives of citizens should be removed before monsoon.

Siddiqui said this while addressing a meeting regarding billboards. Administrator District Municipal Corporation (DMC) South Afzal Zaidi, Director Local Tax Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Abdul Rashid and Additional Director Local Tax KMC Mirza Asif Baig were also present on the occasion.

The commissioner said that the department which gave permission for billboards would be responsible in case any mishap happens.

He also said that, keeping in view the complaints from citizens, all the billboards having indecent pictures or comments would be removed as well.

“Trees should not be cut to place billboards. The billboards having weak and substandard structure would not be allowed,” he said.

On pointing out of business community, the commissioner had directed to remove 6 billboards on 26th Street near A T Naqvi Chowrangi.
