Day: Defence Day observed with traditional fervour

Islamabad: Defence Day of Pakistan was observed on Saturday with zeal and fervour to pay homage to Shuhada, who laid down their lives in defence of the motherland.

The day dawned with special prayers in Mosques for the progress and prosperity of the nation. Special ceremonies are being held at all units and formation of the Pakistan Armed Forces. Numerous functions are being held all across the country to mark the day.

The Garrison Commander, Major General Amir Abbasi laid floral wreath at the Mazar on behalf of the Pakistan Army to pay homage to the poet philosopher Allama Dr. Mohammad Iqbal who conceived the idea of a separate homeland Pakistan for the Muslims of sub-continent.  He also offered fateha for the departed soul.
