Day: (Int’l Women’s Day being observed today)

ISLAMABAD: International Women’s Day is being observed today (Tuesday). It’s aim is to highlight services of women for the society.

The theme of the day this year is ‘Pledge For Parity’. On the occasion of the Day, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Human Rights Barrister Zafarullah has said that Pakistan is committed to take all possible measures to ensure provision of safe environment to women in the country.

In a message, he said protection of rights of women, children, minorities and persons with disabilities had been given the priority in the action plan.

In her message on the occasion, Chairperson Benazir Income Support Program Marvi Memon has said that BISP is the largest stakeholder in women empowerment in Pakistan by giving five point two million of the poorest women quarterly stipends of four thousand seven hundred rupees.
