KARACHI: Six peace committees had been formed to ensure peace in district central and to address all the issues regarding Muharram, while 18 Imambargahs were declared sensitive in the district, said Deputy Commissioner (DC) Central Dr Syed Saifur Rehman while presiding a meeting regarding Muharram at his office on Monday.

The meeting was attended by caretakers of all the Imambargahs, district officers, assistant commissioners (ACs), officials of police and rangers, and representatives of other relevant civic bodies.

The DC central asked officials of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board to cover all manholes with lids and ensure plugging all leakages in water and sewerage lines.

“Silver sheets have been fixed on flyover facing Islamic Research Centre located at Ayesha Manzil to avoid any unwanted incident. All volunteers will be issued proper identity cards to perform their duties during the month,” he said.
