Demand to implement Sindh workers welfare fund act

Karachi: There is dire need to implement the Sindh workers welfare fund act so that the lingering problems of the working class could be resolved amicably, asked Voice Against Corruption President Ahsan Bari Advocate here Thursday.

He reminded that the provincial assembly of Sindh had passed the Sindh workers welfare fund bill 2014 on 4th May 2015 and the governor of Sindh assented to it on 21st may 2015.

He said according to the act, as soon as my be, after the commencement of this act, the government is bound to constitute and establish a Board, by notification in the official gazette for the purposes of the act to be called Workers Welfare Board, consisting on a chairperson, three members of the provincial assembly nominated by the speaker, secretary labour department, three members amongst the employers on the recommendation of industrial associations, three members from amongst the workers, a representative each from the health, education, industries, works and services departments and Sindh Revenue Board.

He said to ensure swift welfare of the workers it is necessary that the provincial government ensures full implementation of the act immediately.
