DG PDMA visits flood relief camps

KARACHI: Director General PDMA, Sindh Syed Salman Shah, along with his other functionaries of District Administration Shikarpur and Kashmore visited relief camps established in Chak of District Shikarpur, New Torri Bund and relief camps established in District Kashmore @ Kandhkot.

The Director General directed the revenue officials to set up tent city instead of using school premises as relief camps. Shah said that PDMA Sindh was making all out efforts for the people who were in process of being evacuated from Katcha area of 06 flood prone districts, adding PDMA was constantly providing relief items to districts as per their demands received from local district administrations.

He said that 1500 tents had been provided to administrations of flood prone districts. Shah informed that as per the report of Pakistan Meteorological Department of 15th September 2014, the water inflow in Guddu Barrage was recorded at 260000 cusecs and 238000 cusecs outflow recorded.

The water inflow in Sukkur Barrage was one 150000 cusecs while outflow was 96000 cusecs. The camp office established by PDMA Sindh at Sukkur is working in close coordination with local administration of food prone districts, while Provincial Emergency Operation Centre (PEOC) is functional round the clock at PDMA Headquarter, Karachi with telephone numbers: 021-99239524 and 021-99251458
