KARACHI: Transport Action Committee President Mohammad Ashraf Banglori has expressed his concern over traffic jams in the city and demanded of DIG Traffic Sindh to end traffic problems faced by citizens.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Baglori said that traffic police officials were not performing their duties properly, causing massive traffic jams in the city, specially during peak hours.

“The vehicle get stuck on roads due to traffic jams, causing sufferings to patients and other citizens,” he said adding that encroachments, illegal parking lots and bike rickshaws had been permitted by traffic police officials, increasing miseries of traffic jams.

He said that instead of performing their duties, the traffic police officials were involved in taking bribes from citizens. He called for action against traffic police officials found negligence.

Banglori said that traffic jams were witnessed in Banaras, Liaquatabad, Ayesha Manzil, Tariq Road, Lee Market and other parts of the city.

“Traffic police officials are asking for more inductions into the force but if duties are carried out honestly with the current force, the traffic issues could be resolved easily,” he said.
