Diplomatic: (Danish Vice Chief of Defence calls for greater defence cooperation)

RAWALPINDI: Danish Vice Chief of Defence, General Per Ludvigsen called on Secretary Defence Lt. General (r) Mohammad Alam Khattak here in his office on Tuesday.

Danish Vice Chief was received at the Ministry of Defence. The Defence Secretary highlighted that Pakistan considers Denmark as an important country of EU in NORDIC Region.

He added that Denmark must play its role in appreciating Pakistan’s role in fight against terrorism and sacrifices rendered during last 14 years.

He said Denmark has played its role in Afghanistan, adding that Danish forces played their role in the fight against-terror in Afghanistan. He added that Denmark has willingly extended welfare activities in KPK, FATA and parts of Baluchistan.

Secretary Defence discussed latest security situation on Eastern and Western borders showing concern over recent Indian violations of LoC causing deaths of innocent Pakistan citizens.

Pakistan and Denmark both showed interest in enhancing defence cooperation. Pakistan is interested in establishing mutual defence cooperation program with Denmark.

The possible areas of cooperation discussed were; Trainings and courses in military institutes, Exchange of observers in military exercises and Exchange of visits.

Secretary also conveyed Pakistan Navy’s desire for cooperation which included exchange of expertise in hydrography, personnel training in narco smuggling and exchange of observers in Naval/SAR/Marine Pakistan Control.

The meeting proved very beneficial with hope of taking the level of cooperation to new heights, says a press release.
