Diplomatic: (Pakistan’s HC meets Chief Minister of Karnataka State)October 28, 2015
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s High Commissioner to New Delhi Abdul Basit called on Chief Minister of Karnataka State Mr Siddaramaiah at Bangalore on Thursday and discussed issues of mutual interest.
The High Commissioner briefed the Chief Minister about developments taking place in Pakistan including the revival of the economy, says a press releases received here on Thursday.
The High Commissioner underlined that Pakistan was blessed with enormous resources and great location. It was destined to become a regional economic hub and a bridge between South Asia and the landlocked Central Asia.
He also apprised of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s vision of peace and development and Pakistan’s interest in normalising relations with India on the basis of mutual interest and mutual respect.
Abdl Basit also invited the Chief Minister to visit Pakistan which he agreed to do on mutually convenient dates. The two sides also discussed creating linkages between Karnataka and the provinces in Pakistan especially in the fields of Information Technology, health and education.
Later in the day the High Commissioner addressed students at the prestigious Mount Carmel College in which he stressed that there was a huge gap between the image and the reality of Pakistan.
He apprised the students how Pakistan was making huge strides in all walks of life and that Pakistani women were working hand in hand in the development of Pakistan. He also referred to Pakistan’s robust civil society and the vibrant media which were part and parcel of the democratic Pakistan.
