District: Villagers hold protest against chief death

Sialkot: The grieved family and the hundreds of the villagers including women and children staged a seven-hours long sit-in and anti police demonstration by blocking the traffic for seven consecutive hours on main Saidpur-Sialkot Road, Sialkot-Gondal Road and link roads to lodge a strong protest against 18 days old nasty incident of abduction, sodomy and brutal murder of local labourer’s son.

The protesting villagers were carrying banners and placards and they chanted anti-police slogans for remaining failed in recovering the dead body of the minor victim. They burnt tyres on the said roads and kept the traffic jammed there for seven hours (from 06:00 am to 01:00 pm).

They also staged sit-ins there. They asked the police to provide their minor son (dead or alive) due to their demand police remained unable to bring the victim there.

Later, the senior officials of Sialkot police and district administration of Sialkot led by Malik Abid Hussain Awan (DOC Sialkot) negotiated with the agitating people and assured them full justice, in this regard.

The grieved family expressed dissatisfaction over the investigation carried out by the Kotli Said Mir-Sialkot police, in this regard. Later, the protesting people dispersed peacefully after lodging their seven-hour long anti police agitation and sit-ins.

Meanwhile, the grieved family of the “ill-fated” minor child, who was killed after sodomy and abduction by a local vagabond, has been spending the days while sitting on the banks of the Upper Chenab Canal (UCC) near village Dhalleywali, Head Marala-Sialkot, waiting for the finding of the dead body of the child from the canal.
