NAUNDERO: Operation against power theft and realization of huge arrears continued here for the second consecutive day on Wednesday.

Recently posted SEPCO Executive Engineer Larkana Rural Mushtaque Abbasi accompanied by Rangers personnel went house to house in many areas and disconnected illegal direct connections and imposed detection fines for which the affected residents were asked to pay immediately or face the music.

Abbasi told Newsmen that one billion and thirty million rupees are outstanding against the citizens of Naundero and the government departments which they will realize at any cost with the help & assistant of LEAs.

He said that so far power supply to seven pole mounted transformers of the city has been disconnected forcing the people to pay bills and install meters.

PPP Unit-8 president Muharram Katpar was arrested for his failure to clear dues of Rs0.5 million. Electricity to the entire town remained shut throughout the day from 10 am to 5 pm due to which the citizens suffered very badly along with the trade, businessmen & students in this hot & dry weather.

Khalid Memon City PPP president told that local bodies elections are being held and starting operation in the name of arrears during this time is unjustified because the people have always been sent exorbitant bills over & above the actual meter readings hence these bills should first be corrected keeping in view the load shedding schedule as well.

He said more than 10-hours power failure timing has been issued only two days before and before that more than 16-hours load shedding was made here since last three years.

He said that federal government must end political victimization of PPP workers or else massive protest will be held. He further told that he has brought the matter to the notice of Larkana commissioner who has assured that no person will be arrested in future.
