LARKANA: Sindh Government finally remembers Dry Core Drilling work at Moenjo Daro after nine years for which UNESCO had advised in 2006 to further excavate the DK area to find more samples & artefacts.

The world body granted internationally acclaimed ancient site of Moenjo Daro status of World Cultural Heritage in 1980 and included this site in the relevant list.

On 4th April, 2014, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari came to Moenjo Daro & inaugurated this sensitive project for which Sindh Culture Department also floated tenders five times but the companies which submitted quotations were not up to the mark due to technical reasons & sensitiveness of the drilling work.

This new project will open doors for fresh research over the age of the site and delimitation of the entire area will also be finalized. The engineers got the underground samples in presence of experts from the related fields of archaeology, geology, biology & zoology.

UNESCO issued several warnings to federal & provincial governments for initiating the project to prepare new map of buffer zone core area so that fresh research could be initiated to ascertain the age of this world famous cultural ruins but they kept on avoiding and they have finally started the frilling work.
