DUHS staff pays glowing tribute to Prof SM Rab

KARACHI: A condolence meeting was held at Arag Auditorium of Dow Medical College, Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS), in which participants over the demise of SM Rab, former professor of Medicine & ex-president of College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP), was passed away on 15 September 2014.

Paying tribute to the services of Prof SM Rab in teaching and training, seniors faculty members of DUHS, including Prof Masood Hameed Khan, Vice Chancellor, Prof M Umar Farooq, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof Junaid Ashraf, Principal, Dow Medical College, Prof Salahuddin Afsar, Prof Shahina Rab (daughter), Prof Khalid Mehmood and Dr Musarrat Hassan expressed heartfelt grief and sorrow over the death of SM Rab. They extended deepest sympathies to the grieved family members.

Acknowledge and praising the professional services rendered, it was said that Prof SM Rab was one of the founder fellows of CPSP and was also the initiator of postgraduate studies.

He was a great mentor and students from all over the world came to his unit for postgraduate teaching and trainings. He was a role model and a source of guidance. Beside excellent teacher, he was also a good physician. The legacy of Prof. SM Rab will always be alive, and his services for medical profession will always be remembered. They all also expressed sympathies to the bereaved family members and prayed Almighty Allah to give high place to the departed soul in heaven.

Later, Dr Rakshanda Jabeen read out the citation of Prof S M Rab. In the end, Mufti Shoaib Ahmed offered fateha for him. The meeting was attended by senior professors, doctors, senior faculty members of Dow University and family members of Prof SM Rab.
