’Each police station to get new van in city’

KARACHI: IG Sindh Ghulam Hyder Jamali said on Wednesday that a new mobile van and 10 motorcycles will be provided to each police station in Karachi in the first phase to make policing more effective, while a fleet of 20 mobile vans would be prepared for police patrolling on Shahra-e-Faisal.

He said while addressing during an event organized to distribute cheques among the heirs of martyred policemen at headquarters Garden South. He met with the heirs and got information regarding their issues then issued directives in this regard right away.

Sindh Home Minister Sohail Anwer Sial as a chief guest, Additional IG Karachi Ghulam Qadir Thebo, Additional IG Crime Sindh, Khadim Hussain Bhatti, DIGs of Sindh police, SSPs, many police officers and a large number of heirs of policemen were also present on the occasion.

The goal of the event was to pay tribute to the martyrs of Sindh police and appreciate the comprehensive marvelous performance of policemen and police officers. Families of 37 martyred policemen and officers were given Rs2 million each and other 80 families of other martyred policemen were given from Rs0.3 to Rs0.5 each. Apart from this 27 police officers and policemen exhibiting excellent performance were given cash rewards and certificates.

The home minister said the government of Sindh witnessed the sacrifices of police with respect and was ensuring every possible help to them.
