Eight alleged criminals killed in separate encounters

KARACHI: Karachi police claimed to have killed eight criminals in two separate encounters in the metropolis on Thursday.

SSP City Fida Hussian Janwari said that an encounter took palace in Machar Colony within the jurisdiction of Docks police station, where Lyari gang war criminals opened fire on the raiding police party. In the exchange of heavy fire, three gangsters were killed.

The gangsters were identified as Ali, 25, Sameer, 25, and Allah Bux, 25. Their bodies were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for autopsies. The SSP City claimed that the accused were involved in recent grenade attacks and over a dozen cases of target killings, extortion and kidnapping for ransom cases. The police also claimed to have recovered weapons from their possession.

In a separate action, police killed five kidnappers and recovered a hostage from their possession near Abdullah Apartments in Surjani town.

According to SSP SIU Farooq Awan, on a tip-off, a joint team of Special Investigation Unit (SIU) and Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) raided Abdullah Apartment area in Surjani town, where criminals opened fire on the police party. In crossfire, four kidnappers were killed and one of them was arrested in injured condition. Police also recovered weapons from their possession.

They also recovered a hostage Zahid Ali, a shop owner who was kidnapped for ransom on 28-02-2016 from Shahrah-e- Noorjahan. Police shifted the bodies and injured to CHK for autopsies and treatment, where injured kidnapper expired. The deceased’s age was 30 to 35.
