FAO delegation meets Governor

QUETTA: Balochistan is province rich in natural and mineral resources. To exploit these resources increase in food is very much necessary. With stabilizing agriculture on modern lines and establishing cold storage there will be massive employment opportunities and commercial and economic activities would get fillip.

This was stated by Balochistan Governor Mohammad Khan Achakzai while speaking with FAO delegation with called on him under the leadership of International Project Manager Marcel Stallen here Sunday.

He said water is very short in the province and underground reservoirs are vanishing. Building new dams to raise underground water and cultivating barren lands. He said there is also problem of drinking water in Quetta City. He said FAO can extend cooperation in this regard.

Governor told that Balochistan population is very small but our people are hard working. There is need they should be provided with modern technical education and employment opportunities so that they not only meet their personal needs but to have access to different markets in the country.

FAO Chief appreciating suggestions of Governor said that his organisation would review possibility of extending cooperation.
