FAST-NU awards degrees to 368 passing out students

KARACHI: FAST- National University of Computer & Emerging Science held its 42nd convocation at its Karachi Campus on Saturday and awarded degrees to 368 graduates of different disciplines. It also presented gold, silver and bronze medals to 15 students for best results.

The degrees were conferred upon the graduates of Business Administration, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Masters in Computer Science, Management Science and Software Project Management and PhD in Computer Science.

Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Sikandar Ali Mandhro was the chief guest at the convocation. Other dignities who attended the ceremony were Secretary General FAST-NU Rana Ghulam Shabir and members of Borad of Governors and Board of Trustees FAST-NU including Senator Nasir A Memon, Justice (Retd) Syed Aslam Jafri, Dr Abdul Wahab and Qaisar Ahmed Shaikh.

While addressing the participants, Dr Sikandar Mandhro said that current era is characterized by technological advancement and innovations like never before. He said most notable fact that remains is this technological and brilliance present is effective way that can foster a country’s economic and social development to unimaginable degrees.

He congratulated graduates on achieving the degrees and hoped that their degree would prove to be turning point in their life. During his speech, Mandhro assured the university management that the encroached six acres of land opposite the campus will be handed over to the university.

Again addressing the successful candidates, he said that to join the race of progress, the nation would have to work to build and introduce technologies that could lead to more efficient and productive economic growth and in such scenario, it becomes mandatory for education sectors of the country to produce work force equipped with technologies for increased economic production.

FAST-NU Campus’s Dean and Director Dr Zubair A Shaikh said their efforts were targeted to improve and maintain the high standard of the university, following this they are expanding the terms of degree programs in newly emerging areas.

He said they have been making concerted efforts in educating the youth in the area of Computer Science, Engineering and Management Science.

Talking to PPI, the candidates Shanhnawaz, Suleman Waheed, Mueez Ali, Maryam and Farha Naaz of different disciplines, said they got good experience. University gave them excellence educational environment. They said as compared to other universities, FAST-NU possesses high job value in market as it has well recognition among top universities of the country.
